The Chicago Red Stars took the lead in the early first half after a goal from Yuki Nagasato gave them the lead. The Waves didn?t take much time to respond as Amirah Ali?s strike leveled the game.

Soon things got out of hand for the Red Stars as the home side took a 2-1 lead thanks to a goal from Jaeden Shaw. But their happiness lasted just for a few moments, as the away side won a penalty in the closing minutes of the first half. Mallory Swanson leveled the score as she converted the penalty brilliantly.

Both sides kicked off the first half with great determination, however, neither of them could put the ball back at the net. Until a late drama really changed the course of the game, as the Waves were awarded a penalty. It was Morgan who slotted the winner to her side, thus securing the first three points of the season.

Indeed, it was a brilliant comeback from San Diego. Both sides were competitive enough to win the game, however, it was Casey Stoney’s side who clinched the critical three points.
