One of the most influential soccer players in USWNT history, Alex Morgan, could not win the FIFA Best Women’s Player award. Instead, it went to Barcelona’s Alexia Putellas, who won for the second straight year. She is one of the best soccer players in the world. Therefore, her victory did not come as a surprise as she defeated Morgan and Beth Mead. However, American fans wanted her to prove her worth during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Despite losing the award, she showed her grace and class by sharing a tweet for the ultimate winner. She stated, “Honored to be amongst these 11 Congratulations to @alexiaputellas #TheBestfifa.” To this, one fan motivated her to perform well during the World Cup. 

Fans motivate Alex Morgan for the 2023 World Cup!

The fan stated how Morgan was robbed of the award. The tweet stated, “You were robbed my idolo, show them in the world cup,” with a prayer emoji. Despite not winning the top prize, she was delighted to be selected for FIFA Women’s World 11. In fact, she remained the only player from USWNT.

Not able to follow in the footsteps of her peers, Carli Lloyd and Megan Rapinoe, Morgan finished in second place for the second time in her career with 37 points. But fans supported her with her achievements. 

One fan commented, “I love you ponyta and I’m very proud of your trajectory now focus and trace the world cup.” Another fan stated how she was her favorite player. The tweet stated, “Congrats! #1 in my honest opinion! Be proud. You’re not only an awesome soccer player, but a great role model!”

But other fans mentioned Putellas in the same bracket as Morgan. One fan stated, “Two Alex Two Best.” Even though Putellas won, Morgan had her fair share of brilliant moments. During USWNT’s match against Brazil, she scored a stunning curler to give her side the lead.

Morgan makes FIFA Women’s World 11

The Women’s World 11 is incredible this time, as many players got their spotlight. The goalkeeper is Christiane Endler, while the defense consists of Lucy Bronze, Mapi Leon, Wendie Renard, and Leah Williamson. Moving into the midfield, Lena Oberdorf, the best Women’s player Alexia Putellas, and Manchester City’s Keira Walsh.

Morgan makes her way in the forward line along with Sam Kerr and Beth Mead. It is one of the best-assembled line-ups in recent times. Therefore, Morgan would probably have her sights set on the World Cup now. Hopefully, she can make it count where it matters.
