In what has become a recurring pattern, the Manchester United squad has received criticism from another club legend. This time, it’s Dwight Yorke, who voiced his opinion on Manchester United star Rasmus Hojlund. He expressed beliefs that the inexperienced striker is not what the team needs and the Red Devils should have pursued Erling Haaland instead.
The Danish forward has not found the back of the net in the Premier League even a single time, despite making 14 appearances. On the other hand, Haaland has been a goal-scoring machine, netting 14 goals in just 15 matches. Yorke argues that this is exactly what Manchester United is missing.

Dwight Yorke shares honest opinion on Rasmus Hojlund
In an interview with DailyMail, Yorke discussed Hojlund. He suggested that instead of spending $91 million to sign him, Manchester United should have pursued other strikers. “I think they should have paid £150 million for (Erling) Haaland,” the former midfielder stated.
Additionally, he also suggested Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen as other potential candidates for the position. Yorke also expressed sympathy for the 20-year-old, acknowledging that he is still in the early stages of his career. The 1999 treble-winner added, “I feel sorry for the kid Rasmus. He’s suffering all around.”
The 52-year-old also admitted to not knowing who Hojlund was before his move to Man U and claims ‘he’s in that development stage.’ However, Yorke didn’t hold back in his criticism of the forward. He firmly believes, “You can’t bring a rookie in to do a man’s job. It just doesn’t work. He’s making the game look a little bit difficult.”

The young striker arrived at the club with high expectations and a hefty price tag, but unfortunately, his goalless performance has become a major topic of conversation. Inside sources from Manchester United have even reported that one player is genuinely concerned about Rasmus Hojlund’s scoring struggles. As for Yorke, this is not the first time he criticized the PL side for failing to sign Erling Haaland.

Manchester United legend believes the team missed the chance to sign Erling Haaland
In another interview earlier this month, Dwight Yorke expressed dissatisfaction with former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He claimed that during Solskjaer’s tenure, the opportunity to sign the Norwegian striker was within reach.

He further commented, “We could have gone out there and paid over the odds. We have been paying over the odds.” However, Yorke believes that this opportunity has now passed, and Manchester United has ‘missed the boat’ on signing Haaland.
