It seemed like Wrexham AFC lost the advantage in the title race when FC Halifax Town beat them 3-1. The disappointing defeat came ahead of a crucial game against title rivals Notts County. However, the players put the loss back in their minds and had an inspiring performance against County in front of their owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. The world’s third-oldest club emerged victorious in what was a Clash of Titans.

Meanwhile, the game was full of controversial refereeing decisions. One such controversy happened at the final whistle when Ben Foster made a match-winning penalty save. The Twitter user has shared the image of the save showing Foster wrongfully off the goal line. But Wrexham fans are enjoying and have responded to the tweet, creating controversy.

Wrexham AFC fans left in hysterics

Wrexham fans ignored the controversy around the tweet showing the image of Foster off the line before saving the vital penalty. One fan wrote“Maybe should have scored another 95 minutes before.” Another fan wrote, “Controversy is six offside decisions which wasn’t offside at all !!! That right there is poetic justice!”

Most of the fans laughed off the tweet. There were a set of fans who reminded the controversial decision from the first half where Paul Mullin was fouled, and the referee ignored the penalty appeals. One of the Twitter users feels the rule for the goalkeeper to stay on the line is awful as the penalty taker always has an advantage. He feels there’s nothing wrong with the goalkeeper taking advantage by moving off the line.

The win puts Wrexham on top of the table with three points lead over County. They have a game in hand and can go six points clear if they win it. They have scored record 109 goals and 103 points. Ryan Reynolds’ club is in the driver’s seat to get the title and automatic promotion to EFL League Two.
