Talking to Spanish media, Cacho described Shakira’s style as “simplistic” and lacking the glamour and sophistication expected from someone of her stature. Cacho specifically highlighted two occasions where he believes Shakira’s fashion sense fell short. The first incident he recalls is the wedding of Lionel Messi and Antonela Roccuzzo in 2017.

According to Cacho, Shakira’s choice of attire for this high-profile event was a disaster. He criticized her saying, “Let’s remember that when Shakira went to Lionel Messi’s marriage and they traveled all the way to Argentina she was disastrously dressed”. Cacho further added, “Shakira has never been fashionable. Shakira has always been disheveled, and poorly made up”.

Cacho seems to imply that Shakira’s fashion sense has always been lackluster, regardless of the event or occasion. He then boldly claimed that Shakira was completely overshadowed by Jennifer Lopez.

Cacho pointed out Shakira’s performance alongside Jennifer Lopez in the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show as another example of her fashion faux pas. In contrast to Shakira, he praises Lopez implying that the ‘Waka-Waka’ singer pales in comparison. In his words, “In the Super Bowl, she was disastrous. She didn’t even comb her hair, she was crushed by Jennifer Lopez”. Jennifer Lopez herself was also not too happy with this performance.

The makeup artist then compared their fashion choices saying, “Remember in that famous presentation where they both appear. Jennifer Lopez was impeccable all in Versace and she (Shakira) was a disaster”. While some may argue that fashion is subjective and open to interpretation, Cacho’s critique carries weight due to his status as a renowned fashion icon and makeup artist.
