He stated, “I think there are several reasons that even surprise me. I have the impression that she resents Colombia, for how they treated her. She did many works here with her foundation, she did many schools. But, well, for example, in her entire musical career, she has not worked with Colombian musicians”.

In another interview, he once revealed, “A long time ago she said in the French magazine Paris Match: ‘I don’t like Barranquilla’s society, because they didn’t help my parents and now they’re behind them’”.

According to Ochoa, Shakira felt that she was mistreated by Colombians and does not feel connected to them. This is a particularly interesting statement, given that just days earlier Shakira had shown her proud side of being “Latin American” while taking a dig at Gerard Pique.
