Megan Rapinoe had been an integral part of USWNT for more than 16 years at this point. It is very hard for soccer fans in the USA to think about the national team without Rapinoe. However, she still remembers her starting days with the team. The team is preparing for an elusive feat. Megan Rapinoe, along with other big names, will play an important role in the upcoming tournament.
Rapinoe was out from action for a long time, as she was rehabilitating from a knee injury. She has re-joined the teams, although OL Reign is trying their best to limit her playtime as an injury wouldn’t only cost them, but also the national team. The upcoming FIFA World Cup is of great priority as always, but the chance of three-peating is what made it a hype house for the US soccer fanbase.

The Ol Reign star in an interview on ESPN a couple of days back, recalled her initial days on the national team. The General Manager of NBA Powerhouse Golden State Warriors, Bob Myers, took the interview. He brought out the selfless quality of the USWNT legend in which Megan recalled a piece of advice she got from a team veteran.

Rapinoe said, “I think it goes back to the way that I grew up. I grew up as a twin and I was never really you know, even the best in my own house and I think you know even just from a young age on the Women’s national team paying like basically on an all-star team all the time like everybody is the best.”
She continued, “Everybody is amazing and I think it was Kristine Lilly she was like the legend of the program and the very end of her career was right when I was just starting and she kind of gave me this advice of just like don’t compare yourself to anyone else, because no one can be you.” She didn’t forget the advice to this day and had been following it every day for the last 16 years.

A new challenge for the team
While the team is doing its best, it looks like Destiny had different plans. Mallory Swanson, in the last few matches, has turned out to be the focus of the USWNT offense. She injured herself in the first friendly match against Ireland. Fans are still in shock as it appears the injury was season-ending.
If that’s the case, USWNT will have to scramble for a different plan. Although Swanson might make a comeback before the tournament starts. Do you think USWNT will be able to win the WC? Drop your predictions in the comments below.
