Shakira has had an eventful year full of ups and downs, and her latest achievement is yet another high point in what has been a rollercoaster ride of a year. The Colombian singer Shakira has made history by surpassing the Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny in monthly Spotify listeners.
For the first time in Spotify history, the Latin artist with the most Spotify Monthly Listeners is a woman.

Shakira now has the record for the most monthly Spotify listeners of any Latin singer with 68,879,869 monthly listeners. This is more than 800,000 listeners than Bad Bunny’s previous record of 68 million listeners.
Shakira’s recent success can be attributed to her diss track “Shakira Bzrp Music Sessions 53” which was released earlier this month. The song was a response to her ex-boyfriend Gerard Pique’s current girlfriend Clara Chia Marti. It quickly went viral, breaking the record for the most-viewed Latin song on YouTube in 24 hours. Now, the song currently has over 180 million views.
Shakira’s message on making history
Following the history-making achievement Shakira took to Twitter to share a heartfelt message. “I feel humbled and grateful though I’m only one among millions of women out there who have so much to say and offer.” The Colombian singer then went on to thank all the women saying, “Women of all races, ages and conditions. Thanks for your loyalty and support.”
Shakira’s record-breaking success is yet another milestone in her already hugely successful career. The Colombian singer has sold over 80 million records and has won numerous awards, including three Grammys and eleven Latin Grammys.
The record by Shakira sends fans into a frenzy
Shakira’s fans are thrilled with her latest accomplishment. After a tough year, Shakira’s supporters are delighted to see her doing so well. They continue to show their backing for the star, while also throwing shade at ex-boyfriend Gerard pique.
