Shakira is one of the strongest and most empowering women music artists of all time. No doubt about that. But behind every successful individual, there is the love and support from their family. Currently, the Colombian singer lives alone with her kids in Miami, as she won their custody after parting ways with her ex-boyfriend Gerard Pique. But recently, she reminisced a never-before-shared story about her struggle before giving birth to her first child.
Surprisingly, Spanish giants FC Barcelona had a major role to play in this situation. While Shakira wanted to give birth to Milan in the US only, Pique’s commitment to Barca left her with no choice but to return to Spain.

How did FC Barcelona impact the birth of Milan?
The celebrity couple welcomed their first baby boy Milan into the world in 2013. Years after his birth, his mother also revealed why she decided to give him that name. Moreover, the soccer fanbase is quite well-versed with Pique’s eldest son. That is simply because the Waka–Waka singer used to bring him to FC Barcelona games. At one point, they had become regulars at Camp Nou.
But there is a whole untold story behind the birth of Milan. The 46-year-old ideally wanted to give birth and raise him in the US, where she was more comfortable. But that didn’t really happen, as she ended up coming back to Barcelona for the delivery. In a recent interview with El Pais, she revealed, “For Gerard, this was a matter of discussion. By the time [Milan] was going to be born, he was in the middle of the Barça season”.

“They weren’t going to give him permission. For him, being in labor was very important”, as translated by Google Translate. “My son was a wonderful discovery of life, but my work was still my priority”, admitted Shakira. She then also realized something about Pique. She concluded, “He never demanded anything of me, he knew me as a global artist”.
After about two years, they welcomed their second son Sasha. Now, years later, the two of them have already started helping their mother with her music career, at such a young age.

Shakira is currently raising two budding music artists in the Mebarak home!
Shakira’s most recent song is Acrostico. The Latin American icon dedicated that song to her children. Surprisingly, both of them made their official music debut too. Both Milan and his younger brother played the Piano and helped with the vocals. Without a doubt, it was quite a peaceful and heartfelt song dedicated to the bond between the mother and her kids. This was also the singer’s first song right after the diss track controversy.

Unexpectedly, her children have also helped her with her diss tracks. Collaborating with Bizarrap was initially Milan’s idea. He was the one who suggested that his mother and the Argentine DJ would be the perfect fit. On the other hand, Sasha is the one who designed the cover art for Monotonia. The celebrity child seemingly did a much better job than Sony!
