The ex-Premier League veteran who suffered this tragedy is Shaka Hislop. The former goalkeeper had lengthy spells at West Ham and Newcastle United during his playing days. After retiring more than a decade ago, he decided to stay in the game by becoming an analyst. Doing his job, he was on air in conversation with Dan Thomas prior to the Real Madrid vs AC Milan match.
While attentively listening to his co-host speak, the former goalie, who also played for FC Dallas, suddenly lost consciousness. During the routine segment, the ESPN soccer analyst wobbled before falling to the floor. For a few seconds, the cameras stayed focused on them before moving them elsewhere. His co-host Thomas shouted his name and his media colleagues came running to help him in seconds.
Some time ago, Thomas shared a heartwarming and positive update on social media. On Twitter, he wrote, “Shaka is conscious. The medics are looking after him,” Soon after the soccer game, Thomas gave the fans another update surrounding his co-host. Here’s what he said, “As it stands, its good news. He’s conscious, he’s talking. I think he’s a little embarrassed about it.”
