The Saudi Pro League continues to witness some radical changes. While the exodus of European stars continues in full swing, the league’s representatives continue to find ways to improve the domestic competition. In fact, they have already taken their first baby steps in improving their refereeing decision system.

Apparently, this year, the Middle Eastern league is set to use soccer’s most controversial innovation, Video Assistant Referee (VAR) and Goal Line Technology. This comes straight from the office of Abdullah Al-Junaibi, who is the chairman of UAE’s Pro League Committee. He recently said, The tournament will witness a quantum leap in arbitration by applying the ‘Eye of the Falcon’ goal line, automatic infiltration, and VAR video technology.

According to Mr. Al-Junaibi, this year the Saudi Pro League is set to witness a “quantum leap” in the refereeing decision system. He insists that the club will use the famous innovations of soccer, including Goal Line Technology, VAR, and automatic infiltration. This step is taken to give the Gulf-based league referees maximum assistance while taking important decisions.

The use of VAR and goal-line technology has been a topic of debate for years since its inception. Many slanders the use of such high-tech advancements in sports like soccer, as they believe it kills the nature of the game. On the other hand, another school of thought reckons it promotes fairness and accuracy in critical decisions. Even today, there isn’t a real answer to the debate. But speaking for all the players of the Saudi Pro League, it is a saint choice.

The technology already exists in Europe’s top five leagues for a very long time. Hence, the use of such proficient methods would definitely give the league a platform to rival other leagues. Certainly, Ronaldo and some of the European stars who recently moved to the Gulf country are acquainted with the technology. But the ones, who never played with it are definitely in for a surprise.
