There was a lot of hype surrounding a potential link-up of two soccer legends at Inter Miami. A link-up that would see two World Cup winners and former club teammates play together at the MLS club. David Beckham‘s soccer club reportedly is still looking to land the deal, a month after signing Lionel Messi. Linked with other clubs elsewhere as well, Messi’s former teammate reportedly just faced rejection from another club overseas in Mexico.
While the Saudi Pro League continues to poach high-profile soccer players during this transfer window, it remains to be seen where Messi’s former teammate ultimately ends up.

The player was none other than Messi’s old Real Madrid rival turned PSG teammate, Sergio Ramos. The former Real Madrid captain and Los Blancos legend is well known for his last-minute goals. But it’s turning out to be quite a last-minute hunt for his next potential club. Ramos has found himself without employment after his contract with PSG ended on June 30 this summer.
The ex-Real Madrid defender was negotiating with the Mexican team Club America. However, the center-back demanded wages that would see him become the highest-paid player in the Mexican league. As per Diario Gol, he demanded over $10.8 million in wages. Apart from his base wage, the Spanish World Cup winner also asked for a mansion and a luxury car.
This could perhaps be influenced by his former teammate Neymar, who signed a bumper contract with Al Hilal with jaw-dropping perks and add-ons. The report further elaborates that the mansion Ramos asked for is in one of the most “exclusive” parts of Mexico City. However, the $80 million rich defender’s demands were shot down by the club’s board. Nevertheless, his search for a new club is currently ongoing.
What are the other options for the Spanish World Cup winner? Let’s dive deeper.

Diario Gol also suggests that Ramos is now negotiating with Turkish champions Galatasaray. It’s a move that could materialize in the ‘coming days’, as per their claims. It also states that he faced rejection by his first club Sevilla, a move which would have been pretty poetic. The report further adds that Ramos is looking to stay in Europe and play in the continent.
Especially continuing to play in the UEFA Champions League. But he is evaluating his options with Saudi Arabia and the US as potential destinations as well. While Ramos is currently a free agent, it might come as a bit of a surprise that the soccer legend is finding it difficult to find a new soccer club. He is after all one of the most decorated defenders in soccer history.
