Vanarama National League is approaching a nail-biting finale. The title race is going down to the line with two clubs, Wrexham AFC and Notts County, going neck-to-neck. The two title rivals will take on each other in a few days in a crucial encounter. However, County was hit with saddening news on Friday ahead of the last stretch of the season.

Notts County released a statement on Friday reporting the saddening loss of its Chief Executive, Jason Turner. The soccer world is mourning the loss of Notts County. Their rival owners, Ryan Reynolds, and Rob McElhenney, also joined the soccer world in sending condolences to the County on their loss.

Wrexham co-owner mourns Notts County loss

Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney sent a heartfelt message replying to a tweet of the official Notts County Twitter handle over the sad news. McElhenney tweeted“Heartbreaking, I am so sorry to hear this news. What a lovely man. Sending our love and condolences.”

Earlier, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds also mourned the death of Turner. he tweeted, “Terrible news. Sending condolences to the entire Notts County organization.” Reynolds further added another tweet, “Just finished reading more about Jason Turner. Gone way too soon. Love and condolences to his family and the top-notch organization of Notts County.”

Wrexham also sent their condolences for the loss of Notts County.

County appointed Turner in 2016, and he devoted himself to the club since the appointment. Before joining Notts County, he also worked with several clubs like Bath City, Newport County, Plymouth Argyle, and Cardiff City. He was one of those responsible for getting the County in the right direction since taking over his role. 

Turner also worked hard during Covid times, helping the club in difficult times. His passion established him as one of the leading figures in the National League. The loss comes at the wrong time for Notts County, who are fighting a tough title race with Wrexham for the automatic qualification spot.

It is a crucial period for Notts County. They are still to play five games in the National League. Currently, they sit at the top of the league table. Although, they have played two more games than the nearest rivals Wrexham and are level on points with them.

County will take on Wrexham on April 10 in a crucial tie that will be a decider in the context of the National League title.
