“See You in the Championship in a Few Seasons” – Wrexham’s Lead in National League Cut Short to 4 Ahead of Title Showdown, Fans React

The success story of Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham AFC is one for the ages. The club in the shadows of English soccer is steadily improving game by game. After 37 matches, the club leads the National League with 91 points. But, they lost the advantage on top after having a seven-point lead. Notts County lost their match against Dag and Red but later on, won a match against Dorking Wanderers to close the gap. Despite the slip-up, Wrexham fans are optimistic about the current scenario, and the next question on everybody’s minds is, will Wrexham get promoted?

With nine more crucial games to go, fans are excited at the potential promotion. Therefore, the mood around the club is at an all-time high. Moreover, with only two promotion spots for teams to get to EFL League Two, fans remain hopeful of getting the team up to the Championship soon. Fans took online to voice out their opinions. 

Fans react to Wrexham AFC’s promotion chances

Wrexham drew their match against Maidenhead United as Shawn McCoulsky equalized in the 90th minute to cancel out Paul Mullin’s brace. In the meantime, Notts County won their games and closed the gap. The game against Notts County on April 10th would probably be the game that confirms their promotion. Having discussed lofty ambitions to play in the Premier League in 10 years, Reynolds and co-owner Rob McElhenney aim to get the club to the top. It prompted a fan to point out how the Championship promotion in the future is on the cards.  

The fan commented on Facebook, “In theory it’s winner takes all at the racecourse. But even if they don’t win outright, they’ll beat whoever they come up against in the play off’s. Good luck Wrexham I hope you do it. We’ll see you in the championship in a few seasons.” Although that lies in the future, things look bright for the club.

Another fan commented about how Wrexham and Notts County are at a different level compared to the other teams in the National League. The fan stated, “Ideally, both Wrexham and Notts deserve to be promoted as they are both miles better than the rest of the league.”

Ryan Reynolds puts the club on the map

After Reynolds bought the club, along with Rob McElhenney for $2.5 million, they wanted fans to know about the club and the town. Fair to say, their project looks promising. One fan pointed out their ambition to take the club to the top. The fan stated, “I’m a wxm lad who doesn’t like football I’m into rugby but I’m so proud that these lads and the owners have put Wrexham on the map I’m Rome at the moment, and every Welsh person I have spoken to all no about Wrexham including 3 American marines …up the town.”

Getting to the business side of things, the club aims to get promotion and improve its market value. The trajectory looks upwards, and Wrexham AFC would probably be a force to reckon with in the future. For now, they are doing all the right things. How long will it take Wrexham to make it to the Premier League?
