As per reports circulating on X, Colombian referee Wilmar Roldán will be in charge of Al Nassr’s game against Al-Hilal. For the match set to take place at the King Fahd Stadium, he will have Miguel Roldán and Alexander Guzmán as his assistants. Mauricio Pérez will be handling the VAR duties. It is not the first time Wilmar Roldan and CR7 have crossed paths. In fact, the Colombian was in charge of Al Nassr’s game against Al Raed in September.

The decision to employ a foreign referee for the match signifies SPL’s dedication to guaranteeing impartial judgments. The former Real Madrid star has seen a spectacular header ruled out incorrectly by VAR. It is just one of the few refereeing errors that have cost Al Nassr and CR7. There were reports that Al Nassr was looking to get foreign referees for all of their matches.

The Portuguese superstar himself isn’t the biggest fan of the SPL referees. Following his debut season, Ronaldo made heads turn after expressing that the SPL has the potential to be a top 5 league in the world. Yet, even then, Cristiano acknowledged the shortcomings of the referees and the VAR system.

Hence, the appointment of a foreign referee would probably make him delighted. However, that is not the only recent development involving CR7 and a referee.
