Alex Morgan reaches major milestone in NWSL

In the match, Alex Morgan proved why she is the only USWNT representative in EA ratings. Her two goals made her climb the ladder and be the third top scorer in NWSL history. She surpassed Jessica McDonald with 54 goals standing now in the third spot with 55 NWSL regular season goals. Chelsea sensation Sam Kerr topped the list.

Jaedyn Shaw opened the counter of goals for San Diego as she puts up a footwork clinic in the 39th minute. Morgan started the 2nd half with a bang as she make the North Carolina defense look like mannequins as she shredded the entire force by dribbling and following up with a laser-guided missile of a shot, doubling the team’s lead.

She would again triple the lead, scoring on a VAR-assisted penalty in the 74th minute. Keeping the spark alive in the 76th-minute Brazilian star forward Kerolin scored what fans are calling a questionable penalty for North Carolina, to make the score 3-1 just a minute after Morgan. However, no goals were scored after that and the final score was 3-1 after 11 minutes of stoppage time.
