Wrexham AFC is continuing its northward journey, which started after Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over its reins. The club has now confirmed that its home ground- the Stok Cae Ras is going through a thorough rebuild before starting the EFL League One Season. However, followers who are closely connected to the Welsh side seem unaware of the stakeholders involved in the stadium’s reconstruction. Wrexham’s co-owner Reynolds has now shared his two cents about the stadium’s makeover. Nevertheless, the identity of the builder remains ambiguous.

Wrexham AFC has recently posted on its website that the club is extending the capacity of its temporary stand by 3,000 seats. Ryan Reynolds took to X and shared the good news with his followers. Thanks to everyone for their hard work on this and looking forward to building the future of Wrexham with @squirepartners and Arena Group,” Reynolds tweeted. While there is a mention of construction companies such as Squire and Partners and the Arena Group, sources close to Wrexham still seem unaware of the entity behind the extension project.

The stakeholders of Wrexham’s famous ‘RobRyanRed’ podcast instantly took to the Deadpool star’s tweet and said, “Interesting to know who is behind this project, we’ll say that much.” Hence it is unclear as to whom the Red Dragons’ co-owner thanked for the Racecourse Ground’s renovation project. Furthermore, other comments and concerns from the club’s faithful confirm that Wrexham’s stadium renewal has been delayed, and the club has found a new partner to extend the stadium capacity.

Continuing their conversation under Ryan Reynolds’ X thread, the RobRyanRed podcast shared, “The development of the Kop has been littered with delays and it seems they have changed providers in terms of who is building it now.”

They added, “The original designs were by AFL Architects and then a company was involved to build it – but it never started.” More posts on the thread reveal that AFL Architects had embarked on Wrexham’s stadium extension project a year ago. Now that there is no mention of the AFL group in Wrexham and Reynolds’ posts, it is sure that the construction group has backed out of the project.

Had AFL continued its partnership with the Red Dragons, the stadium rebuild would not have gone through a delay. Anyhow, better late than never! The Welsh side’s faithful can now expect a stadium extension project to unravel soon.

Besides, reportedly, there are hints that the Arena Group is increasing Wrexham’s seating capacity in their temporary stand. Anyhow, it is now up to the Red Dragons’ front office to officially confirm which parties are involved in the Stok Cae Ras project. Otherwise, it won’t be beyond the club’s faithful to raise eyebrows on the Hollywood owners’ transparency.
