April 13, 2024, was a day to mark in history for Wrexham AFC. The team has defied human perception to make a comeback into the English Football League (EFL) League one after more than 15 years. However, despite the unfathomable jubilation regarding professional success, it is the friendship between the co-owners took center stage. In a heartwarming gesture for ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ star, Ryan Reynold used a fusion of Deadpool and Titanic themes to wish Rob McElhenney.

As Saturday the 13th saw Wrexham through, and the clock struck midnight on the 14th, Reynolds was ready with a unique present. Wishing Rob on X (previously Twitter), Reynold dropped a hilarious video with the part of the caption reading, “It felt like Rob’s birthday was today but apparently it’s tomorrow? I am posting now because it’s April 14th in Wrexham and I’ll bet people are still up,” But it was the fictional video that caught the attention.

While celebrating in his Deadpool costume, Ryan Reynolds added a surprising twist. He pointed out that it was also the anniversary of the Titanic sinking. With his usual humor, Reynolds said in the video that he had arranged “an expedition” to a ship underwater (meant to be the Titanic in the video) to “retrieve a few bottles of Wrexham Lager, which was actually on that maiden voyage,” for his birthday.

The one-and-a-half-minute video further continued with the 47-year-old  saying, “We searched and searched, and while unfortunately, we didn’t find any drinkable Wrexham Lager, what we did find was even more beautiful.” Later, the video hilariously shows shirtless portraits of McElheeney found inside the ship.

Subsequently, Reynold asks people not to ’embarrass him by going to Vistaprint.com/Wrexham to purchase,’ the merchandise. The video concluded with Reynolds wishing Rob a happy birthday and concluding with “We’ll see you in League One.” Looks like the Welsh club is heading for more success if they keep up the ongoing momentum.

Being under financial crisis a few years ago, both the Hollywood stars turned the tables for Wrexham. One of the oldest clubs in history will play League One after securing the 2nd spot in League Two. This comes after their 6-1 thrashing of Forest Green Rovers and the other contender MK Don losing 4-1 to Mansfield Town. This is the second consecutive time they face promotion after winning the National League last year.

Moreover, although unlikely, the Red Dragons still hold a chance to clinch the League Two title if they win both their games and leaders Stockpot lose their remaining. Nevertheless,  the club will cherish their upward trajectory and give their best in the upcoming games before ascending to League One.
