Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney – The superheroes that Wrexham needed
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have been the co-owners of Wrexham AFC since February 2021. They were the ones to ensure that the club returned to take part in the English Football League after a gap of 15 years.

Not only this, the Green Lantern superhero has been a superhero in real life, helping out Wrexham footballers and their families, whenever they have been in need. Prior to the Martyn Chalk incident, Reynolds had also helped out Laura Forde, wife of Wrexham star Anthony Forde.
Soon after childbirth, Laura Forde was informed that she had a malignant tumor and that she had only months to live. Reynolds came to the scene and helped the couple to get a second opinion from another surgeon. It turned out that the initial diagnosis was a false alarm.
Later on, recalling these incidents, Anthony Forde would go on to say in the “Welcome to Wrexham” documentary, “They are such normal people, and there is not a chance that they would do this for publicity. They don’t need it. I remember saying to Ryan, ‘I can’t thank you enough,’ and he said, ‘People have helped me too.’”
