Did Paul Mullin make the right call snubbing Ryan Reynolds for Rob McElhenney?

Wrexham is on a break from matches, but cannot stop providing some action off the pitch. While the club is getting ready for League One, both the owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are still scouting for players who will make them combative in England’s third tier. But they will miss their key striker Paul Mullin in the initial part of the tournament as he underwent back surgery last month. Nevertheless, after giving a bold take on both the Hollywood owners, Reynolds chose not to show Mullin any mercy, giving a sharp reply in a rib-tickling banter.

BBC’s Radio 1 Breakfast with Greg James surprised Ryan Reynolds when they gave him a voice clip of Paul Mullin stating, “Rob McElhenney is the best Wrexham owner,” while playing the game ‘unpopular opinion.’ However, Reynolds bounced back, “Oh I know that voice. Mullin, why aren’t you doing calisthenics right now buddy? Maybe stretch that recently fixed back out a little bit. I don’t know, maybe make good on an investment in a promise that we made”. Joined by The Wolverine lead actor Hugh Jackman on the show, the conversation had some positive opinions on Reynolds as well.

Despite trying to stir up Reynolds with such humor, Mullin even gave his honest thought when asked to. He further said, “Both wonderful as owners and not just as people. Get to see them as people more than owners now,” suggesting they aren’t anything different from what people saw in Welcome to Wrexham.

Mullin acknowledged Reynolds and McElhenney’s contributions to the fans and the team. From engaging with the buffs regularly to trying to fulfill their demands, both the owners never held themselves back. In addition, their aim to get the best players along with spending loads on the infrastructure is appreciated by supporters all over the world.  Hugh Jackman admired them for what they’d done.

After Mullin reiterated how the owners invested their heart and soul into Wrexham, Hugh Jackman also gave his applause for Ryan and Rob. During his visit to a match, Jackman observed a ‘section of the Grand Stand’ where children with autism can also enjoy the match. But, the ovation Reynolds got from them impressed Jackman who said, “This was applause from people who were just so grateful for what he and Rob and your whole team have done for that Community,” citing that it was different from what the film stars get at the Red Carpet.

The special place at Racecourse Stadium through Gate 12 offers silence for children with Autism who may be irritated by unavoidable sound. In addition, it was reported that families are given a walk and tour around the zone while the stadium is closed to learn more about it. A ‘quiet hub’ behind the area also provides a quiet time for fans which has sensory lighting and sensory equipment along with other activities.

The stadium also provides an option for disabled fans to order refreshments from the pitch-side seats apart from the stewards who are there to assist those in need. Nonetheless, this is just a little of what Wrexham has instilled into their club. The fans and the players recognize it, and despite some friendly exchanges, they remain strong together, achieving incredible landmarks.
