It’s June and Wrexham is yet to announce its first signing. Having achieved a second consecutive promotion, the Red Dragons would be eager to keep a strong foot in League One. As they browse through their targets, the latest one appears to be Derby County defender Eiran Cashin, as reports suggest that Ryan Reynolds is looking to sign the $950,000 worth Championship star.

The latest development was reported by @TransferCentre9 on X. The Red Dragons have been keeping tabs on the Irishman for quite some time. In fact, they even made attempts to sign the 22-year-old earlier but the bid was eventually rejected by the Rams. However, a six-figure deal which is close to a million can tempt Derby to let the center-back go. It is being said that the full negotiations are expected to commence in the coming days.

Notably, Cashin has risen through the ranks of Derby and even won the English Youth League with the U18 side. The Mansfield, England-born defender has impressed since being promoted to the first team. This season, he made over 52 appearances for Paul Warne’s side across all competitions. Cashin has made 44 appearances in League One, notching three goals and an assist. He has even represented the U18 and U22 sides of the Ireland National Team.

The reason why Wrexham would be required to break the bank for Cashin is because he has a contract at the Pride Park Stadium until 2027. Should Derby agree to sell him, then he would certainly be a key signing for Reynolds and Co. Having released 8 players earlier, with Ben Tozer being one of them, Cashin can fill in the defensive void. While Wrexham would be looking to close the deal ASAP, let’s look at their other transfer targets.

A list of other transfer targets that Wrexham are aiming to sign

Reports indicate that the Ryan Reynolds-backed club has contacted former Wigan Athletic players, Stephen Humphrys, Josh Magennis, and Tom Pearce. All three were released by Wigan before the upcoming season. While Humphrys and Magennis can help Phil Parkinson with the attack, Pearce is another defender touted to replace Ben Tozer. Next up for midfield is Rotherham’s Jamie Lindsay, who was once being considered by Wrexham to become their record signing.

However, now he can be snapped up as a free agent. Another man touted to join the midfield ranks of the Welsh club is Wil Ferry. But Wrexham would have to fight with the likes of Blackpool, Northampton Town, and Charlton Athletic. Aside from Portsmouth FC, and former League Two rivals, Stockport County, interest remains from Championship sides, Stoke City and Middlesbrough.

While their list of potential targets so far looks neat, it remains to be seen which them would become Wrexham’s first signing.
