After sweeping an impressive five Primetime Emmy Awards last year, Welcome to Wrexham is yet again nominated for six Emmy Awards. The renowned sports docuseries Sunderland Till I Die inspired McElhenney to launch a similar series covering the intricacies of his club, which resulted in Welcome to Wrexham. Now, Ryan Reynolds has perfectly summed up Wrexham’s Emmy feat with a poetic message.

Reynolds took to X and announced the happy news of Wrexham receiving six Emmy nominations. “This is the result of the stunning and consistent effort of @RMcElhenney, @grd212(George Dewey- the executive producer of Welcome to Wrexham) and so many others. You can’t write love letters like this without being irretrievably in love. @wrexham_afc and the Town are a wellspring of emotion, grit, and resilience. What an honour to be a part of their story,” the Deadpool star captioned his tweet which also had a picture of him and McElhenney in Wrexham’s stands.

The first season of Welcome to Wrexham, released in 2022, beautifully documented the awe-inspiring story behind Reynolds and McElhenney’s takeover of the Welsh club. The next season, released in 2023, focused on Wrexham’s iconic second consecutive promotion to the EFL League Two after a 15-year hiatus. Rob and Ryan released the show’s latest installment, which focuses on Wrexham’s 2023-24 EFL League Two campaign on May 2024.
