Who would have thought the Welcome To Wrexham documentary series would be a massive success? The series that aired in August 2022 highlights everything around Wrexham on and off the field. It focuses on how the duo of Reynolds and McElhenney took over the third-oldest club in the world and their plans to take it to the higher division.
Will Wrexham’s women’s team feature in the next season?
The social media post of the It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia actor hints at the inclusion of the women’s team in the next season. He already has announced a new season of the docuseries in 2023. We can expect it to launch after the season ends in May 2023.
McElhenney tweeted, “The excellence continues. Cannot wait for the world to meet these women,” tagging the official Twitter handle of the Welcome To Wrexham. It came in response to the team’s 8-1 victory at CPDM Y Felinheli. Wrexham AFC Women are now top of the table. They have recently applied for a Tier-1 license in Wale’s soccer. If that happens, Reynolds and McElhenney would be proud owners of a first-division team.

Only time will tell whether their application is accepted or not. But the team is ready to go semi-professional by getting a promotion if they win the league. Meanwhile, the tweet suggests the owners are also passionate about the women’s team. They pledged investment in the women’s team, too, after the takeover.
However, everyone is waiting for the next season of Welcome To Wrexham. The current season has been one of the best in Wrexham AFC’s history. We can expect an excellent second season of the documentary series.
