After waiting two months for the season to start, Wrexham got their campaign off; well, not in style. They lost their match to MK Dons in the opening game of the EFL League Two season. They surrendered to a score of 3-5 thumping at the Racecourse Ground. Although it’s still early days, there is nothing to worry about for the team. With Paul Mullin out injured, they will look to other players in the squad for inspiration. And one of them is Jordan Davies.

The 24-year-old midfielder climbed through the youth ranks of Wrexham to make his debut for the club. Even though he had a spell with Brighton & Hove Albion, the player has returned to the club, aiming to get them back-to-back promotions. The plans of receiving an opening day victory failed as Ryan Reynolds approved Davies’ ability to play soccer

The official Wrexham Instagram page posted a picture of Davies in action and captioned it, “What an impact this man made🫡.” Following that, Reynolds gave the post a thumbs up, indicating his sense of encouragement for the novice. In fact, he came off the bench to score a spectacular goal to bring his side back into the game. Yet, MK Dons scored another goal and deflated their hopes of making a comeback to the match. Thus, Davies is one of the crucial players in the squad and will be instrumental for the team.

Davies joined the club in 2020 and helped the Welsh club to win the title. They received a promotion after 15 years, and it excited the fans witnessing the rapid rise to the top. Delighted to score a goal, Davies spoke about the moment, which delighted him.

According to the Leader, Davies stated“Obviously not the circumstances I would have wanted but to come on for my Football League debut and score a goal was great from a personal point of view. In the bigger picture, we still lost, so that takes the shine off it, but it still meant a lot to me and I was happy I could make a positive impact. Hopefully, I take that on further in the season.”

Are they missing Paul Mullin?

One of the major players they missed out on was Paul Mullin. Those 46 goals he scored in all competitions last season proved the difference. He helped the club to get back on the top, and if you remove those 46 goals, things don’t look satisfactory. Yet, he will take some time to recover to his best.

Mullin suffered a punctured lung against Manchester United in a pre-season friendly match. He collided heavily with United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop and suffered a grievous injury. Mullin would take 6-8 weeks to get back to full fitness, and they need other players to step up. Well, they have Jordan, who demonstrated his talents on the pitch. Do you think he would be instrumental to Wrexham’s success this season?
