Wrexham AFC’s short spell in the EFL League Two has come to an end, but not before carrying some stern challenges forward. After experiencing a fiction-like journey, Ryan Reynolds has now decided to spice the story up by challenging the League Two winners in a somewhat pumped-up statement. This came after Wrexham won their final game of the current League Two season beating Stockport. But is the statement just a teaser of things that are about to come?

The club has played the underdog for quite some time, but now it looks like Wrexham is ready to move into another gear. Taking a dig at Stockport County, Reynolds wrote on X, “Huge @Wrexham_AFC win and an incredible finish to another season and another promotion. Congrats to league champions, @StockportCounty… we’ll see you next year in League One.” This was a response to Wrexham’s post, which read, “We’ll see you in League One, Reds! 👊,” after their incredible performances at the home venue.

The Red Dragons have already proven to be a thorn in the flesh for bigger teams and will be confident of performing well in League One. However, a win against Stockport would boost their confidence significantly, considering its impressive form of late, having been unbeaten in their last thirteen games.

Meanwhile, the table toppers also thrashed Wrexham at their home last time winning 5-0 which makes this win even sweeter for Ryan Reynolds. But it wasn’t a walk in the park for Wrexham as the club went a goal down in the 29th minute to Connor Lemonheigh-Evans’ strike. However, it was striker Ollie Palmer who equalized in the 47th minute followed by a dying minute-winner from Andy Cannon that sealed the game for Wrexham. Nevertheless, the statement from Reynolds triggers a bigger rivalry ahead.

Wrexham’s win over Stockport was more than just a good finishing note to the season. The club has been on tenterhooks with Stockport since the National League after Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over. Stockport’s manager Dave Challinor trolled the club after they won the title in 2022 and Wrexham had to bow out after losing in the playoffs. Hence, Ollie Plamer made it clear that the club intended to get even against League Two Champions.

Overall, the journey of the two clubs has almost been parallel. Stockport and Wrexham jumped up two tiers with some stunning performances. But it looks like the current winners will be the new rival for Wrexham in League One in their aim to promote to the Championship.
