Quite a few sportspersons from other sports pursue golf as a passion. One of the prime examples in the soccer universe is Gareth Bale. Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney also enjoy playing golf. Recently, Wrexham star goalie Ben Foster who is also a golf enthusiast promised a golf podcast host a ‘fourball’ with the Welsh soccer club owners and Mark Wahlberg.
Later, he revealed that he still hasn’t played golf with the Hollywood duo in charge of his soccer club. Along with having another successful stint at Wrexham, Foster stated that he would be ‘heartbroken’ if he didn’t play golf with them.

A few weeks ago, Ben Foster made an appearance on the Beefs Golf Club podcast. The hosts of the podcast asked if Foster could manage to connect them with Mark Wahlberg. Simply because Wahlberg is a golf lover too with a Hollywood-like golf playground to himself. Foster immediately had a smile on his face after hearing the request. He went on to suggest something even better.
The goalie promised them that he would ask Ryan Reynolds about this. After that, he quoted, “Imagine that for a fourball. If you could have a fourball, beefy with Rob McElhenney, Ryan Reynolds, and Mark Wahlberg that’s like top tier, isn’t it?”. The hosts then asked the star goalkeeper about the Hollywood duo’s handicaps.

But he wasn’t too sure about it. The goalie continued, “Um, I think they’re kind of there’ll be middling. They will be middling handicappers. So let’s just say for safety 14 or 16 or something”. Then followed the most obvious question. But Foster revealed that still hadn’t played golf with Reynolds and McElhenney.
He also stated that the Wrexham co-owners play a lot of golf when they’re in the UK. Let’s dive deeper.

Reynolds and McElhenney are no strangers to the golf universe. Some weeks ago, they tried to entice Gareth Bale into signing for Wrexham by requesting a golf session. But that sadly didn’t work out. The point is that the co-owners know how to play golf. Foster quoted, “When they’re over they will play at Carden Park because they stay there quite a bit.”
But the goalie stated that he hadn’t got the opportunity to play with them yet. He continued, “I think next season for sure, if I don’t end up playing some sort of golf with them two, I’m going to be heartbroken”. Ahead of the upcoming season, Foster committed his future to Wrexham by signing for a year. Minutes after signing the deal, he stated his intentions for the new season in EFL League Two.
