The hunt to make the first signing after a second consecutive promotion continues for Wrexham. Each day, new names are echoed in the headquarters of the Welsh club. This time, Ryan Reynolds is rather on a mission to reunite a ‘band‘ on a special wish of his star player James McClean, as reports suggest that he is looking to sign $300,000 League One star Conor Hourihane.

The Derby County captain is set to be released as his contract at Pride Park Stadium is coming to an end as the Rams aren’t eager to extend his stay. With Hourihane set to become a free agent, the Irish international is on Wrexham’s radar, a rumor that got into the ears of the Red Dragons’ midfielder James McClean. Interestingly, when asked if Reynolds and Co. should move ahead with the signing, he replied, “Let’s get the band back together.” (@fearlessidzine: X)

Both apparently share a locker room for the Irish national team. Notably, Hourihane joined Derby two years ago from Aston Villa. Despite having played the most games in his domestic career for the Lions, he was sent on various loan spells at Sheffield United and Swansea. Prior to spending five years at Villa Park, he also played for Barnsley FC where he won the 15/16 Football League. Additionally, Plymouth and Ipswich are also the clubs Hourihane has represented, before rising through the academy ranks of Sunderland.

Certainly, the 33-year-old has enough experience in his CV to join Phil Parkinson’s midfield. Plus, the biggest advantage that the Hollywood-backed club has is that they won’t be required to pay any sort of fee. Speaking of free agents, Wrexham are targeting another free agent, which they had been eyeing for quite a long time.

Ryan Reynolds keeping tabs on long-term Wrexham target

Jamie Lindsay is now officially a free agent after spending five years with the Championship side, Rotherham. Due to an injury, he was limited to just 400 minutes of play since February. The Scottish star was a prime target for Wrexham, who were once prepared to make him a record transfer, surpassing the $440k paid for Ollie Palmer. However, the move fell through as the clubs couldn’t agree on a fee.

With only a few months left on his contract, the Red Dragons preferred to acquire him for free and now seems to be a perfect time. Additionally, the Welsh side is also indulged in a stiff competition for signing Irish midfielder Will Ferrell. Since releasing eight players, new signings are essential. It remains to be seen if Ryan Reynolds can secure all the necessary additions for STōK Cae Ras.
