Is the new Al-Nassr logo a disgrace to Ronaldo's legacy? Fans are fuming!

Things aren’t sailing smoothly for Al Nassr at the moment. Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. are grappling with domestic troubles before the 2024/25 campaign has even begun as their empire continues to burn in fire. Though what exactly is required is some tweak in dynamics, the Knights of the Najd thought otherwise and are rather pondering an out-of-context decision. Al Nassr is reportedly in line to change the club’s emblem and the proposed design has sent the soccer world into shambles.

Even we aren’t exactly sure how to describe the new logo that Luis Castro’s side will be donning on their blue and yellow jersey anytime soon. Courtesy of @Nawaf_STATS and @TheNassrZone on X, a rendered image of the club’s crest was recently shared. It features a large yellow circle, partially eclipsed by a slightly smaller blue circle. Inside the blue circle, “AV” is written in a slanted yellow font, with “1955” (the year Al Nassr was founded) written below it. Have a look for yourselves.

Interestingly, Al Nassr’s crest has been updated multiple times over the years, with the most recent change happening in 2020. Before this, the logo experienced significant revisions at different intervals. From 1955 to 1971, the logo stayed the same until it was changed in 1971, remaining in use until 2009. Notably, this design lasted for nearly four decades before being altered again in 2009, which then lasted until 2011.

Notably, months ago, reports did surface that Al Nassr was looking to make some changes to their logo for the seventh time in their history. It was said that the Emirati company Home was given the task for the design and implementation of the new badge. Though we aren’t sure if it’s the aforementioned company that has revealed the design, for it to be worn on a soccer jersey is indeed a bad idea. This is because of the enrage that it has ignited among the soccer world!

Soccer world tears Al Nassr apart over the club’s potential new logo

As the image of the club’s new crest was shared by the fan pages of Al Nassr on X, formerly Twitter, things have taken the turn for worse. Not everyone is happy with the bland design and is slamming the Middle Eastern giants for going with it.

Sorry Arsenal fans but this netizen has taken a shot at Al Nassr by drawing parallels to the Gunners. Ever since Cristiano Ronaldo joined the Saudi giants, they have taken the decisions for the worst, failing to secure significant domestic success. Now this logo change isn’t helpful enough to make their case.

Al Nassr’s current logo speaks volumes when looking at the attention-to-detail parts. For instance, the crown at the top and inside the enclosed circle there is a map of Arabia—everything is classy and bold about it. But looking at this new logo, there’s only one thought that fans have, “This must be a joke!”

Ever wondered why the club’s logo over the years has undergone considerable changes? While there shall be other significant reasons, it’s mostly done because change attracts at the end of the day. If the new emblem manages to impress fans then it will certainly boost the club’s identity, which is certainly the opposite in the case of Al Nassr.

It was just recently in 2020 when Al Nassr decided to change its logo. This fan is now questioning the Knights of the Najd on what grounds they are again deciding to make this change within four years. And if this is the logo that replaces the previous one, then the club shall brace itself for the downfall of its legacy.

As if domestic troubles weren’t enough Al Nassr found another way to sadden its fans. First, they started a poor pre-season campaign followed by a shocking 4-1 loss in the Saudi Super Cup final vs Al Hilal. The last few days have been more dramatic as President Ibrahim bin Abdullah Al-Muhaidib stepped down from his position with star players like Sadio Mane, Alex Telles, and Abdulelah Al Amri also closing in on exits per reports. And now, there’s this logo that has traumatized the fans.

Be that as it may, seems like fans won’t spare Al Nassr if they wish to keep this as their club logo. After looking at this response, the Saudi giants may perhaps change their minds. In the meantime, we would like to know your thoughts in the comments.
