Antony has had a rough spell following his move to Manchester United last season. The player has yet to replicate his form from his time at Ajax, which has not gone well with multiple ex-United players.

In an interview with the United Stand, Antony hit back at his critics. The player stated, “Today, I see criticism coming from former club players and other people in the media, who unreasonably express their opinions and influence thousands of fans, sometimes even when I do not play.”

He added, “But I’ve never seen them give constructive criticism, which will help me be a better professional. None of them have ever sent me a message to see how I am feeling, especially during this period of turbulence that I am going through.”

The Brazilian has been on the receiving end of a lot of harsh comments from ex-United icons. Former United icon Paul Scholes went a mile ahead as he labeled the winger a clown.

Following the game, Scholes ripped into the Brazilian, stating, “Is it his trademark? I think he needs a better one. He needs to find a more entertaining way. I just don’t think that is skill or entertainment. That is just being a clown, isn’t it?”

After that, Erik Ten Hag made a decisive move during halftime by substituting Antony and bringing Marcus Rashford to the game. Since that game, the player hasn’t done much and is yet to leave an impact.
