The hopes of millions of soccer fans have been dashed! Fans & admirers of Cristiano Ronaldo were envisioning a fairy-tale return to his boyhood club Sporting CP, as the concluding chapter in his storied career. However, the dream is not set to be realized as per the legend’s comments. In fact, Sporting coach Ruben Amorim seems to align with CR7’s comments and is happy with the Portuguese superstar for clearing the questions.

Amorim, who was once the 3rd-most expensive manager transfer ever, has Sporting CP on top of the league. His squad is on the younger side, with an average age of 25 years. Could this be a reason why he is seemingly discarding the signing of the soon-to-be 39-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo?

In a recent interview, Sporting CP’s boss once again clarified the situation regarding a potential CR7 return. Amorim said, “Cristiano Ronaldo? What I took away is that he will save us a lot of questions regarding his return to Sporting and also the time.” However, the coach did add that he is impressed with Sporting’s form. He revealed, “I think he sees the team playing and like all Sporting fans, he is satisfied with the performance.” Could there have been a dialogue between the two?

Recently, Cristiano Ronaldo emphatically ruled out a transfer to Sporting CP. As per CR7, he feels happy in Al Nassr while also adding that he wants to continue with the Saudi side next year too. He explained that the return to the Portuguese League was meaningless, considering his age. Also, previous reports of Al Nassr possibly offering a contract extension indicate that the 38-year-old could extend his stay in the Middle East.

It’s not just Cristiano Ronaldo’s boyhood club’s fans that will be left disappointed. In fact, he is going against the wishes of his mother too, following her comments last year!

Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Aveiro is a huge sporting fan and even wished the team good luck recently. Back in 2022, she had revealed one of her big dreams to see CR7 return to Sporting. She explained, “Ronaldo has to come back here. If it were my choice, he would already be here. He likes to watch Sporting games. I’ve already told him: ‘Son, before I die, I want to see you return to Sporting.’ He says: ‘Let’s see’: But if it can’t be him, then Cristianinho!”
