Rose Lavelle credits Emma Hayes for her transformation—Is Hayes the best coach in women's soccer?

Emma Hayes and the US Women’s National Team is no less than a match made in heaven. The English manager brought a breath of fresh air to a team that had been down in the dumps for obvious reasons, leading them to Paris Olympics glory within 81 days. That, apparently, seems to be just a trailer as USWNT star Rose Lavelle claims there exists a ‘level‘ that even the group doesn’t know exists.

Signs of achieving greatness came early within the first interaction of the American ladies with the former Chelsea boss, who came to the States after curtaining her 12 years of unmatched domestic glory. “The first camp with Emma, we took on so much information and grew so much in such a short amount of time that I think it’s really exciting to see what will be able to do,” said Lavelle, while speaking to Kelley O’Hara during an exclusive chat for ‘Just Women’s Sports’.

Turning the page from the 2023 World Cup upset was tough work, but Hayes made it so seamless according to the Gotham FC star. That urges the midfielder to say nothing but the fact that USWNT is officially back with a new face. “We have even more time together and I really feel it is like a new era for us and it’s like a chance for us to reinvent ourselves and take the team to a level that maybe we didn’t even know we had in ourselves,” concluded the 25-year-old.

It’s quite interesting to see Lavelle buzz with such optimism and praise for Hayes, considering that she was snubbed by the 47-year-old in the final vs Brazil in favor of youngster Korbin Albert. In five matches, the Gotham star was subbed in the latter three matches, as it was Albert who seemed to have impressed Hayes more. Though many questioned the former Arsenal W’s assistant manager over the sudden change, Hayes eventually got backed for her call.

Regardless, keeping the sportsmanship, Lavelle otherwise knows what’s best for the team. Such an attitude is necessary for the 4x World Champions, considering they still have another payback to complete.

Emma Hayes and USWNT looking to get 2023 heartbreak redemption in the 2027 World Cup

For someone like Emma Hayes, who already did wonders by winning the gold, surprising in the next World tournament would be phenomenal. “We are so looking forward to the things we can do together,” remarked the Team US manager, after winning gold in Paris. “We have a gold medal [now], but it doesn’t mean it ends there,” she added, making it clear that the team is aiming for more than just one victory with the USWNT.

Focusing on the next big thing it is for the USWNT to achieve, the 2027 World Cup is the only pragmatic step to consider. Even the players share this belief, with defender Tierna Davidson previously expressing a similar view. She feels the potential of the American team is ‘limitless‘ under Hayes’ leadership. The Gotham FC star noted that the USWNT possesses all the ‘tools’ needed to succeed in the next major competition.
