Liverpool’s game against Manchester City was nothing short of a blockbuster. Fighting for the premier league title, both the giants could not find the cutting edge as the game ended in a 1-1 draw. However, such a game doesn’t go without its own set of controversies. This game was a major one where Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp felt that the referee Michael Oliver or VAR should have given them a penalty.
During the 9th minute of the stoppage time, Jeremy Doku’s leg hit Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister trying to receive a lofted ball. Speaking after the game, Jurgen Klopp felt that Doku’s leg was high enough to receive a yellow. He said, “Isn’t [VAR] there for just making the right decision and not thinking about how high the bar is to overturn it to find the right decision? This situation, in all positions across the pitch, is 100 percent a foul and a yellow card.” It was not just Klopp, but also the fans who have been claiming that they were deprived of a penalty twice.
