Gareth Bale to Wrexham rumors are back, aren’t they? With the Welsh club basking in the glory of their second consecutive promotion to League One, bolstering their ranks remains the main summer agenda. And what better way to announce the season’s first signing than with an ex-Real Madrid star? Despite their transfer constraints, believe it or not, co-owner Rob McElhenney insists that the ‘offer is still on the table‘ for Bale.

“I will shave a professional-grade golf course into Rob’s back if you’ll give Wrexham a season,” tweeted co-owner Ryan Reynolds last year as he teamed up with McElhenney to convince the winger to join the Red Dragons. The plea came after Bale hung up his boots with an MLS shield win with the LAFC. Despite many persuasions on the X, formerly Twitter, their dream was shattered. Yet again, this year, McElhenney has reignited the gossip.

In a recent interview with the Athletic, the ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ actor said, “Gareth Bale is still technically available! I made the plea last year and I’m just going to tell Gareth that the offer is still on the table.” In fact, just like last year, McElhenney is again luring Bale with the help of golf, the former Tottenham Hotspur star’s favorite sport to play. “We’ll let him play golf whenever he wants. Just as long he comes training and we’ll figure out how to get him in the team,” the actor added.

While his effort is worth the praise, deep down, McElhenney knows that even the golf bribes won’t make Bale make him come out of his retirement. It has been over 18 months since the former Wales skipper last kicked a soccer ball. Not to mention that Phil Parkinson isn’t keen to rush over signings.

Phil Parkinson doesn’t want to ‘jump in’ for overhauling Wrexham

One would expect Wrexham to dive deep into the transfer window ahead of the League One challenge. However, Phil Parkinson rather wants the Red Dragons to play the waiting game. “We have got a good core of players in the building already so we don’t need to jump in and sign players we don’t feel are right,” he said in an interview. The 56-year-old seems to have found a perfect roster and wouldn’t dare to screw anything up. But the astonishment doesn’t end here.

Despite having released 8 players weeks ago, the manager insisted that even if they decide to go for squad overhaul, ‘one or two lads’ would be sent on loan. More exits! Seems like the approach for Parkinson for the 2024/25 season is to maintain stability. Instead of getting quick fixes, the English boss is planning on making improvements within his existing squad. Certainly, dreadful news for Rob McElhenney as it seems like Gareth Bale won’t play at STōK Cae Ras.
