Clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey immediately started pursuing Marco Reus after knowing he wouldn’t renew his Borussia Dortmund contract at the end of last season. Rumors have linked the ex-BVB superstar to pair up with Cristiano Ronaldo in Al Nassr. But as it turned out, Reus conveniently snubbed a switch to the Middle East and favored the MLS as his next potential destination. Now, Major League giant LA Galaxy is closing in on the German’s deal. At this juncture, Inter Miami star Julian Gressel and renowned soccer content creator Zealand Shannon analyzed why Reus chose the US instead of Saudi.
Gressel and Shannon discussed Marco Reus’ post-Dortmund stint in the recent episode of the PLAYER/MANAGER podcast. The duo said that any club in Saudi Arabia would offer Reus 10 times what the LA Galaxy would offer. “The thought is. If just wanted to go somewhere for money, he would have done it already. And he still wouldn’t be talking to Galaxy in ‘how can we make this work?’ Again the lifestyle living in Los Angeles… Charlotte wanted him but he was like, ‘If I’m coming to the MLS, I want to live in Los Angeles’,” said Zealand Shannon.

But it is well known among soccer fans that Reus cares less about fat paychecks. Had that been the case, he would have long abandoned his boyhood club-Dortmund and joined another European powerhouse equipped to win the Champions League.
