The Argentine was very active on social media for quite a few days after the World Cup. Pictures of Messi lifting the World Cup instantly went viral. He continued to post pictures of videos of him celebrating the World Cup triumph with his Argentine teammates.

However, the Argentine soccer star has recently revealed that Instagram blocked him for a few days after the World Cup.

Why did Instagram block Lionel Messi?

While the entire soccer universe was busy celebrating Lionel Messi’s crowning as a world champion, the Argentine soccer legend was facing his own set of issues. Messi is one of the most influential athletes in the world. The Argentine has garnered over 425 million followers on the social media website.

However, the Argentine was banned from the platform for a few days after winning the World Cup. After more than a month, the Argentine told Urbana Play about the weird situation he found himself in after the World Cup. As per ESPN, Messi told Urbana Play, “My Instagram was blocked for a few days because of the amount of messages I received after winning the World Cup…I had a million messages on Instagram and they blocked me”.

That was obviously the most crucial time for the Argentine star to reach out to his fans on social media. However, the fans seemed to have ‘broken’ the social media platform with their excessive loads of enthusiasm. The fans weren’t the only ones who were celebrating the World Cup win.
