It is safe to say that Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have completed step one of their dream tenure at Wrexham. The soccer universe found it quite bizarre and funny when they initially purchased the Welsh-based soccer club. However, the Hollywood duo has maintained an undying belief in this club. On their second attempt with Reynolds, Wrexham has finally secured automatic promotion.
The Deadpool star ensured his team secured promotion through a few last-minute signings.

The comedic actor spotted a crack in Wrexham’s goalkeeping and attacking front. He plastered those cracks with fresh additions into the club. However, a similar problem has obviously come up again. With several contracts expiring in June, the Hollywood co-owners have a few decisions to make.
Which players could leave Wrexham by the end of this season?
With just one game left of the season, Wrexham does not need to worry about their position in the league anymore. Due to their convincing win against Boreham Wood, the Welsh soccer club has safely secured automatic promotion. The fans went absolutely berserk after their historic 3-1 win in the last game.

However, Reynolds and his co-star need to deal with a fresh set of problems. Four players could potentially leave Wrexham by the end of June 2023. Those players are Mark Howard, Ben Foster, Rory Watson, and Kai Calderbank-Park. The Deadpool star has to desperately figure whether to recruit reinforcements or retain the star in the goalkeeping department.

Their first-team goalkeeper, Rob Lainton’s contract, will expire in June 2024. Emergency goalkeeper, Bon Foster’s contract will expire at the end of this season. The jury is still out there on whether the veteran English goalkeeper will agree to continue as part of the Wrexham dream.
Interestingly, Rob McElhenney recently tested the waters with a retired soccer legend on social media. The simple aim behind that was to try and convince him to join the Welsh soccer club.

A normal person would professionally approach a retired soccer legend on their views surrounding a comeback. However, the Wrexham–Hollywood duo have their own unique way of conducting their business. McElhenney posted on Twitter, “Hey @GarethBale11 let’s play golf, where I totally won’t spend 4 hours trying to convince you to un-retire for one last magical season”.

Gareth Bale played along by replying, “Depends what course”. Reynolds appeared out of nowhere and said, “I will shave a professional-grade golf course into Rob’s back if you’ll give Wrexham a season”. He later replied to himself, “Update: after an online image search, it appears Rob does not have the requisite body hair to support this plan”. Truly bizarre, isn’t it?
