Fans are getting closer and closer to the summer transfer window. Among many names that will find the new team, is Argentine magician, Lionel Messi. He didn’t opt to sign the extension with Paris Saint-Germain and will be a free agent in the upcoming window.

Multiple teams are standing in line to sign Messi, including Al-Hilal. The Saudi Arabian giants have offered an unfathomable 400 million USD per year to the World Cup winner. However, according to the reports, he has rejected the offer. It seems Messi’s main priority is to stay in Europe only.

Fans are praying for him to go back to Camp Nou. However, a few weeks back La Liga president Javier Tebas said it will be tricky for FC Barcelona to be able to present an offer to Lionel Messi. Even if it was to be green-lit by the league, Messi has to take a heavy pay cut on his current salary.

Barcelona re-signing Lionel Messi is ‘impossible’

While fans are hoping to see Messi’s comeback to his former club, according to a Spanish soccer expert, it is not an easy task. He goes on to the exact situation that might stop Barcelona from actually presenting an offer to their former megastar.

On his Twitter, Guillem Balague tweeted, “The return of Messi to Barcelona looks less and less likely. Let me get my thoughts together and I will explain why it feels like an impossibility.” He later released an article via BBC Sport stating the reasoning behind his thought.

Balague explained how there is no offer yet and Barcelona has to clean up a lot of a financial mess before even being able to offer Messi anything. He ended the discussion by writing, “All this points to one thing: Messi is not going to return to Barcelona.” A heartbreak for all Messi fans. Meanwhile, Messi is chilling in Saudi Arabia.
