Neymar endured a challenging start to his AFC Champions League debut with Al Hilal. The four-time champions were fortunate not to lose the game in their Group B tie despite conceding in the 52 minute at King Fahd Stadium. Now with the latest shocker, the ex-PSG forward and his family have turned to social media to publicly mourn an upsetting news.

The loss of famed celebrity dentist Rafael Puglisi has left his world devastated. The 35-year-old passed away after a tragic accident at his residence in Barueri, Greater São Paulo. The Sao Paulo-born dentist had a client list that included Neymar, Whindersson Nunes, Juliette, Jade Picon, and Larissa Manoela. Of them, the Brazilian soccer star has expressed his dismay at the demise of a trusted person in his life.

A fatal accident, and a dire loss to many worldwide

Puglisi’s family disclosed on social media the fatal incident that led to his sad demise. Tragically, while performing his routine dive into the pool, Puglisi struck the pool’s bottom sustaining a traumatic cranial injury. Despite the best efforts of the medical personnel, Puglisi could not be revived in the hospital and was declared dead on arrival. According to the family, he was, “a great brother, son, nephew, grandson, uncle, cousin and friend!”

In a post dedicated to Puglisi, the family recounted how the 35-year-old had made an immense impact on dentistry. Puglisi graduated in Dentistry from Faculdades Metropolitanas Unidas (FMU), in São Paulo becoming a 4th generation dentist in his family, according to the official website of the company Instituto Odontológico Guy Puglisi (IGP). The institute, for which he functioned as the clinical director, was a luxury clinic in São Paulo. With his specialization in aesthetic dentistry, Puglisi was responsible for the smiles of several Brazilian celebrities, like Neymar, with whom he shared a friendship.

In 2017, Neymar was spotted with Puglisi at his dental clinic after undergoing treatment. He has gone through aesthetic treatments including dental veneers over the years. Following this unexpected demise, the Al Hilal forward highlighted his grief for the respected professional. Neymar shared a story for Puglisi, quoting, “Rafa Puglisi rest in peace my friend. My condolences to all the family”. Neymar’s sister Rafaella Santos also reacted to the family’s Instagram post that expressed sympathy for the accomplished dentist.

Puglisi’s death is clearly a devastating loss not only for his family, and wide range of clientele but also for dentistry.
