Brazilian match official Anderson Daronco was present in Saudi Arabia to oversee the game between Al Nassr and Al Ahli. Cristiano and his men came out on top in a high-octane fixture that saw him and Talisca star in a 4-3 win. However, their performances were overshadowed by the heated discussion between Cristiano and the match official.

Darnoco, while taking on a podcast, opened up on their interaction claiming, “The controversy was created later. It was a player’s clash in a situation where the refereeing was correct. It was a sequence of situations, he protested two possible penalties in a row and luckily we got that shot right.”

The Portuguese superstar did not seem pleased with Darnoco’s judgment throughout the contest. The Al Nassr skipper was pretty sure that his team deserved a penalty and was being denied due to the referee’s imperfect decision-making.

It is not the first time an official has spoken out on their conversation with the Al Nassr skipper. Colombian match official Wilmar Roldan spoke on his argument with Cristiano Ronaldo after fans saw the duo having a heated exchange during Al Nassr’s game against Al Hilal.

Explaining their conversation, Roldan stated, “It seems that from the substitutes’ bench, they were reviewing the action and told Ronaldo that there was nothing out of place. What he tells me is that the assistant was making a mistake, and I told him that we were relying on a semi-automatic system and suddenly he didn’t understand and became desperate. But you cannot fight against technology.”

Many have criticized Cristiano for creating pressure on match officials this season. Many critics believe that the player is let go despite his actions because of his larger-than-life stature. What are our thoughts on the situation? Let us know in the comments below.
