After hearing about Suarez’s news, several celebrities and soccer clubs paid tribute to the legendary midfielder and his contribution to Spain. Moreover, he has been described by Serie A giant, Inter, as “the perfect player who, through his talent, inspired generations”.
Suarez earned 32 caps for Spain and helped them to savor European Championship glory in 1964. He joined Inter in 1961 and spent nine memorable years in Milan. Furthermore, he contributed significantly to the Nerazzurri winning three Serie A titles, two European Cups, and a couple of Intercontinental Cups.
Prior to linking up with Inter, the legendary midfielder spent six seasons on the books at Barcelona. Suarez joined Barcelona in 1955 and became one of the best midfielders in the world. He won six trophies during his time at Barcelona, including 2 La Liga titles. Most notably, his crowning personal achievement came in 1960 when he beat Real Madrid legend Ferenc Puskas to the Ballon d’Or.
To this day, Suarez remains Spain’s only male winner of the award, which is a phenomenal achievement for any player. Suarez is remembered extremely fondly at Barcelona and the club shared a heartfelt tribute online.

The club said, “Football legend. Barça legend. We will really miss you. Rest in peace, Luis Suárez Miramontes.” Barcelona also listed the legendary midfielder’s titles during their time with the club. Suarez continued his legacy after leaving Barcelona and was loved in Italy too for all his contributions at Inter.
The Nerazzurri paid tribute on social media, saying: “A unique talent and a great Inter fan. The number 10 of Grande Inter who brought our colors to the roof of Italy, Europe and the world.”
