It hasn’t been a decent last few years for FC Barcelona. The Catalan club’s perilous situation didn’t stop many of their bigwigs from jumping ship. Each season has been marked by a crucial exodus, with Sergio Busquets among the most recent casualties. While the Spanish international didn’t hesitate to join his former teammate Lionel Messi at Inter Miami, reports suggest that the defensive anchor had ‘much more information‘ regarding Barcelona’s upsetting reality, which forced him to exit his childhood club.
The exodus certainly didn’t stop at players, with Xavi also announcing his decision recently to step down from his managerial post at the end of the season. Amid all the chaos, former Spanish player Francisco Jose Carrasco, nicknamed Lobo, has made a shocking claim over Busquets’ departure on El Chiringuito TV. “I’ve been thinking about it for several days, Xavi should have done like Sergio Busquets. ‘See you later’—he should have left before the season started,” started Lobo. Busquets’ exit was an example that even Xavi should’ve followed as an answer to ‘big decisions’ from what Lobo further explained.

“Sergio had much more information than us and in order not to renew, I’m sure he thought about it well and said, ‘there is an organizational plan in the club and I’m leaving all of this.’ That was the time to leave because there can always be good answers to big decisions. But if you don’t make important decisions, they can take up a lot of your ground.” This explains why it was reported as a factor in Xavi’s decision. Either way, it is a bold claim from Carrasco, given that Busquets dreamt of retiring at Camp Nou.

An old pal of Sergio Busquets revealed how things did not pan out at Barcelona
A few weeks ago, when Luis Suarez was unveiled as an Inter Miami player, he surprisingly revealed details about his departure from FC Barcelona, along with Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba. “In 2018-2019, we were winning everything in Barcelona and we all dreamed of retiring there, but I left first and then they left after me,” he said.

Notably, the order of exit started in 2020 with the Uruguayan. A year later, Lionel Messi left, with Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba leaving earlier this season. It’s heartbreaking to see that all four luminaries could not finish their careers with Blaugrana. However, fate appears to have other ideas, bringing the quarter back together under one roof unexpectedly in the USA!
