The former Dortmund midfielder is becoming the heart and soul of the team, an unimaginable statement for a 20-year-old who has just joined the ranks of Real Madrid. The soccer star awe his fans further as he took to social media to thank his former head coach.
Pep Clotet, Bellingham’s head coach at Birmingham City, was at the stands witnessing the talent he’s created. Clotet shared a post on his Instagram with a picture from after the game with Bellingham. The Real Madrid midfielder reposted his post to his story with the caption, “Thanks for everything @pepclotet (heart emoji)”.
Clotet was an assistant manager at Birmingham at first but later got promoted to the position of head coach of the club. This was the time when he introduced a 16-year-old Bellingham to the first-team squad and the rest is history. Birmingham City has since retired the number 22 worn by Bellingham stating it’s to remember one of their own and to inspire other players.
