Wrexham is just a few hours away from their opening fixture in the EFL League Two. They face MK Dons at the Racecourse in Gameweek 1. While the team has had a fruitful preseason in the US, they will miss Paul Mullin for the first couple of weeks. Rob McElhenney recently revealed that he would be hosting him at his LA home. On the other hand, his son will be ditching him and staying home with the striker while McElhenney travels to the UK.

For sure, the EFL League Two will be a tough challenge and a step up for the Welsh soccer club. It is important to note that the transfer window is still open and Ryan Reynolds’ club just signed a midfielder hours ago.

In the last few days, the biggest headline has been an unfortunate one. It was about Paul Mullin’s injury. Recovering from a punctured lung, the striker wouldn’t be able to leave San Diego. McElhenney revealed they will call him home for a couple of days. Mainly because he had no family or friends in the area. McElhenney quoted, “We didn’t want him to be alone and so lonely”.

“So, he’s going to come stay with us at the house”. The co-owner then funnily explained their family game plan for the weekend. He continued, “I’m going to go to the UK for the game. Kaitlin is going to stay back so that he’s not alone”. The Hollywood star further revealed, “And my one kid is going to come with me. One kid is gonna stay back because he’d rather spend time with Paul than with me”.

From the looks of it, one of McElhenney’s kids is planning to ditch him and stay with Mullin at home. But how can anyone miss hanging out with Super Paul Mullin? Apart from that, this does seem like a very heartwarming gesture. Without a doubt, the Wrexham co-owners are rewriting the definition of a soccer club owner. This is just another example of how the Hollywood duo treats their club’s players like family.

In a few hours, Wrexham will face MK Dons to kick off their new campaign. With an unbelievable home advantage to start the season, Phil Parkinson will want his players to build up some momentum. Reynolds’ side will start the league campaign on the back of a decent preseason. A win against a weakened Manchester United would have definitely done their confidence a world of good.

Undoubtedly, Wrexham has a great squad of players with a few names like Ollie Palmer, Elliot Lee, Aaron Hayden, Ben Foster, Ben Tozer, and many more. Just hours ago, Wigan Athletic’s James McClean inked a deal with the Welsh soccer club. The 34-year-old will bring a load of experience on the pitch having spent the last few years of his career in lower divisions of the English soccer pyramid.
