The FIFA World Cup’s 3rd and final group stages gameweek is around the corner. The World Cup in Qatar has been massively entertaining for fans around the world. The highest-scoring game of the competition so far involved Spain and Costa Rica. The 2010 winners opened their campaign with a 7-0 drubbing of Costa Rica, announcing themselves in Qatar. As they start their title challenge, they have one of their biggest fans with them, Rafael Nadal.

No one can deny Rafael Nadal’s passion for the game of soccer. He has been a huge fan of soccer since his childhood and was a promising soccer player at the age of 8. However, he decided to take up tennis as he grew up and the rest is history. Nadal even got the opportunity to celebrate Spain’s 2010 World Cup celebrations. 12 years later, he wants them to lift the trophy again.
Ahead of the World Cup in Qatar, Nadal named a few countries that could win the competition, including his home nation, Spain. However, during his current exhibition tour in South America, he hasn’t been able to follow the games.
Rafael Nadal finding it tough to follow the FIFA World Cup
Nadal started his South American exhibition tour on 23 November in Argentina. He has already played four games so far, with two more remaining. Due to a busy schedule, he hasn’t been able to follow the FIFA World Cup. He discussed his struggles in a recent interview.

During the interview, he also hailed Luis Enrique’s Spanish side, which started with a 7-0 win over Costa Rica. He also acknowledged that it has been a ‘good start’ for the team. Being a soccer fan, he wants to stay updated on the soccer World Cup but has only been able to watch France and Belgium’s games alongside Spain.
Rafael Nadal’s exhibition tour

After the ATP Finals in Turin, Nadal moved to South America for five exhibition games. He started in Buenos Aires, followed by Chile, Brazil, and Ecuador. He will be in Colombia on 29 November where he will face Casper Ruud, followed by another game in Mexico.
Nadal previously faced Casper Ruud in the ATP Finals group stage. He managed to beat the Norwegian superstar, but the latter reached the finals of the tournament. However, Ruud lost to Djokovic in the final.
