Kylian Mbappe, PSG, and Real Madrid were embroiled in a long transfer saga this transfer window. The Frenchman refused to pen a new contract in the French capital, which upset PSG’s upper management. Many at the club, including PSG President Nasser Al Khelaifi, believed that the player had made a pact with Los Blancos to join them at the end of his contract. However, a Real Madrid board member has now come out and openly denied Al Khelaifi’s claims.

Both PSG and Mbappe were locked in heated drama at the start of the season after Mbappe penned a letter to the club informing them that he would not be renewing his contract. However, PSG did not like Mbappe’s actions, so they sidelined the player from their first team.

Real Madrid board member debunks Nasser Al Khelaifi’s claims

Real Madrid board member José Manuel Otero touched down on the speculations surrounding Kylian Mbappe. Otero denied the claims made by PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi that Mbappe had agreed to a deal with Real Madrid. He then also added that the club would take a legal approach to bringing the Frenchman on board.

“If we had taken a wrong step with Mbappé, PSG would have tried to react against Real Madrid. Real Madrid know perfectly well what they can and should do. If Mbappé comes – I hope in 2024 – he will come in a legal way, without anyone being able to accuse us of having made a pact. What they took for granted last year, that Al Khelaifi said he had an agreement with Real Madrid: it’s not true.”

There has been lots of drama surrounding Kylian Mbappe’s future with PSG. The player’s contract with the club ends in 2024, and the Frenchman is yet to sign a contract extension. While PSG is trying all in its power to get their ace to sign a new deal, Mbappe has refused to sign any new deal with the club.

The current transfer window saw a major drama unfold between PSG and Kylian Mbappe. The club sidelined the player from their main team as the Frenchman refused to sign a new contract with the side. Mbappe had earlier penned a letter to the club, informing them that he would not sign a new deal with the club. “What influence does the president have? On my career today, in 2023, none. He wants me to stay in Paris. My objective is to stay. We’re on the same wavelength. Am I going to leave PSG? I’ve already answered. I’ve said that my objective is to stay at PSG, that’s my only option at the moment. I’m ready to come back when preseason resumes. I didn’t think a letter killed anyone, or that I had offended anyone.”

However, a string of poor performances forced the French side to once again rely on their star player. It will be interesting to see if PSG can manage to hold on to the Frenchman next year or if he moves out to Real Madrid for free.
