PSG’s reputation for splashing the cash on big signings is well-known in the soccer world. After all, they blew the transfer market wide open back in 2017 when they splashed around $260 million for Neymar! Yet, however, their financial power has not yet convinced Kylian Mbappe to extend his contract with the French side, and they have seemingly shifted their focus towards securing potential replacements. Indications suggest that top contenders for this position may include Victor Osimhen and Rafel Leao and that PSG may have to break the bank to acquire their signatures.

“At some point, I’ll have to leave my club,” is what the French striker said earlier. A remark increasingly mirroring reality with speculation rife about a move to Real Madrid, with even La Liga president Javier Tebas making claims in favor of this transfer. As PSG contemplates the possibility of losing the 2018 world cup winner, they need heavy hitters to fill the void.

The latest transfer rumors have linked PSG with Serie A stars, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, and AC Milan’s Rafael Leao. According to recent reports from La Repubblica newspaper, Napoli has set an ambitious asking price for their star striker. Napoli is expecting a $130 million offer when the summer transfer window opens. Moreover, signs are suggesting that the Parisians are gearing up to present a comparable bid to sign Rafael Leao.

This implies that if PSG intends to secure the signatures of both of these talents, it would likely necessitate an outlay in the region of $260 million. On top of that, should Kylian Mbappe decide to part ways with the Ligue 1 side during this summer’s transfer period, he would be doing so as a free agent.

As such, his departure wouldn’t attract any monetary gain for PSG through transfer fees. But what if we were to tell you that the Paris side has a master plan set to potentially profit from the 25-year-old’s transfer?

To say losing Mbappe on a free transfer would be a major loss would be an understatement. Although this would preclude Paris Saint-Germain from receiving a transfer fee, an articulated strategy has been disclosed by Juanfe Sanz on the program ‘El Chiringuito’.

Sanz explained, “Paris feels protected because Mbappé is committed and has made several compromises so that the club is profitable with an extension or with a departure. (…) In an agreement that would have been written, Mbappé would have guaranteed that his signing bonus in any club where he goes would arrive in the pockets of PSG.”

There are rumors suggesting that this bonus could reach up to $106 million. Now, all we can do is wait until summer and observe how this entire situation unfolds. What are your thoughts on this?
