When Ryan Reynolds ventured into sports franchise ownership, he would not have thought it would interfere with his acting job. Deadpool director Shawn Levy, once admitted to struggling to finish a day’s work because Reynolds spent much time worrying about his Welsh club, Wrexham AFC. From always thinking and talking about Wrexham at work, the Hollywood icon has gone to stopping work to watch the Red Dragons in action.
Ryan Reynolds recently took to Instagram stories to showcase a ‘new level’ he has unlocked. In his stories, the Deadpool star could be seen relishing Wrexham’s last night’s clash against Crawley Town. He stood adjacent to a camera crane, celebrating Wrexham’s 4-1 win, which played on the big screen in the background. “Watching the Wrexham AFC at work: new level unlocked,” Ryan Reynolds wrote on his Instagram story. It is unclear as to which upcoming film’s shooting that Reynolds halted to watch the Red Dragons. Considering Deadpool, Wolverine, and IF are in the post-production phase, Reynolds might be working on the sets of his next film, Animal Friends.

Reynolds posted yet another story captioned, “Big win today. VERY big,” to cheer on the Red Dragons. It was indeed a spell-bounding win for Wrexham. Star striker Paul Mullin scored a brace to power the 4-1 victory. The Welsh side has also cemented their position as the second seed in the EFL League Two Table.
If they remain solid in the second spot, they will achieve a second consecutive promotion and reach the EFL League One. Anyhow, Reynolds’ antics of watching the soccer match mid-work is no surprise. Deadpool director has previously spoken at length about how the superstar’s affinity to Wrexham has caused troubles at work.

In a 2023 interview, Shawn Lewy admitted that he had to go the extra mile to downgrade Reynolds’ obsession with the Welsh club so that he could finish work. “His obsession with Wrexham, also by the way, the obsession of all of Wales with Ryan Reynolds is becoming problematic. Like, I’m trying to get us ready to shoot Deadpool, and he’s so distracted by this football team,” Levy said.
