The sacking of Al Nassr coach Luis Castro became inevitable as the players started to murmur about the coach’s tactics. There were issues within the club and the hierarchy finally pulled the plug. Moreover, AC Milan’s Stefano Pioli joins the club as the 4th coach Cristiano Ronaldo will play under after moving to the Middle East. For his teammates, it became a brilliant decision to sack Castro according to one player.
As per YSSscore reports, Mohamed Al-Deayea, a Saudi Arabian soccer legend, detailed the issues caused by Castro in the dressing room. The coach’s preference for Ronaldo irked the players, as the Portuguese star was the face of the club.
He detailed, “There are some players who celebrated after Castro’s dismissal, because they did not play with him regularly, and they did not feel confident with him. The coach preferred Cristiano Ronaldo over everyone else, despite the presence of prominent names in the team and a lot of progress, but he only cared about his compatriot, which is unacceptable, and caused the players’ level to decline due to the psychological factor.”

There is no doubt Ronaldo remains one of the world’s best players. But the players wanted a coach to connect with them as he stated about Pioli’s entrance to the Knights of Najd. Al-Deayea continued, “It is true that Cristiano is a high-level scorer and the best player in the world, but the interaction should have been better with the other players. Al-Nassr appeared well in the first match with Pioli because of his interaction psychologically with them.”
The former AC Milan manager left the club in 2024, leading them to an unprecedented Serie A title. Known for his man-management, Piolo transformed the sinking ship – AC Milan, to once again top of Europe. As Al Nassr stands in 5th place, he can turn things around.
