We hope that you don’t have any additional plans on Saturday night. That’s because the women’s international window brings one of the most exciting clashes as England will be locking horns against the USWNT on November 30 at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium at 5:20 p.m. local time/12:20 p.m. ET. The last time both of these sides faced each other was a couple of years ago.

The Lionesses prevailed in the very meeting on October 7, 2022, securing a 2-1 win in front of 76,893 fans—also the highest-attended crowd in a women’s friendly game. A similar atmosphere of close to 80,000 is expected for this clash as either side would be looking for a win in this one. Notably, the home side enters the match on the back of a 2-1 win over South Africa in their October window, which came after a close 3-4 loss to Germany earlier in the month.

On the other hand, the US Women’s National Team continued their emphatic form since pre-Olympics, when Emma Hayes took charge. Having won the gold medal in Paris, the American ladies secured hattricks of victories in a doubleheader fixture against Iceland with the same consecutive score of 3-1, followed by another 3-0 win against Argentina.

England vs USWNT: Team news

Injuries

England

Sarina Wiegman would be missing some of the key names for this fixture. Starting with the Chelsea duo of left-back Niamh Charles and forward Lauren James, followed by Manchester City forward Lauren Hemp, Aston Villa defender Lucy Parker, and Manchester United midfielder Ella Toone as everyone continues to nurse their respective injuries.

Can the USWNT maintain their dominance, or will England's Lionesses roar back at Wembley?

That only forced the Dutch tactician to hand over Man City’s Laura Blindkilde Brown and Leicester City’s Ruby Mace their first-ever call-ups and may get potential debuts, if not against the USA then at least vs. Switzerland on December 3. Man Utd defender Gabby George is also back in the lineup after a two-year absence.

The biggest miss for the Stars and Stripes is the Triple Espresso. Emma Hayes explained the absence of Trinity Rodman, Sophia Smith, and Mallory Swanson as necessary rest, stating, “When you’re in the back end of a season, you’ve played a lot. Your body’s tired, your mind’s tired. That’s where, you know, sometimes it can become risky,” explained Hayes in the presser, insisting on the importance of rest.

Crystal Dunn is another major absence not only for the national camp but even for her club due to personal reasons. While both Mia Fishel and Croix Bethune are out with long-term knee injuries, Alex Morgan announced her retirement a month ago. However, joining her soon in the hall of fame is goalie Alyssa Naeher, who also announced her retirement just a few days ago. This window is rather a farewell for Naeher.

Predicted lineups

England [4-3-3]: Earps; Bronze, Bright, Williamson, Carter; Stanway, Kirby, Walsh; Mead, Russo, Kelly

USWNT [4-3-3]: Naeher; Fox, Girma, Sonnett, Nighswonger; Lavelle, Hershfelt, Horan; L. Williams, Shaw, Thompson

Draw: 2

Both sides seem to have their respective absentees, not to mention that their previous form also makes either side a tough competitor. A draw would be one way to settle the game, but we reckon it will be Emma Hayes who’ll be silencing her own nation’s fans at Wembley. The scoreline will be England 1-2 USWNT.
