Shakira and her hard-hitting lyrics have been viral for months. Earlier this year, she dropped her first diss track against her ex-boyfriend Gerard Pique. Recently, a popular journalist made quite a few eye-opening statements. She believed that the Colombian icon had a much deeper motive behind composing the diss tracks in an attempt to divert the fan’s attention from something major.
Apart from her diss track controversy with Pique, the Latin American singer could face an eight-year jail term for tax fraud. Soon after her breakup, the Spanish authorities accused her of not paying taxes between 2012-14.

Shakira’s diss tracks are claimed to not only be composed for dissing Pique
Paloma Rando is a journalist currently in the limelight. She has a different take on Shakira’s diss track saga. Rando believes that a person would be more interested in an infidelity diss track rather than a tax fraud case. The journalist cited the Bizarrap diss track and marked that as an example of how a celebrity has the power to ‘focus’ public attention.
Rando continued, “Shakira is a very intelligent woman, she has proven it over the decades. I think that, in this sense and in this specific case, she doesn’t give it to us with cheese. The moment she starts talking about debts to the IRS, about photographers, she expels us. Because these are not lyrics of love or heartbreak songs with which one can identify. But this is a very specific lyric that talks about a very specific case”.

Without a doubt, Rando’s opinion has shaken everyone a bit. She pinpointed a line from the Bizarrap diss track. The line was ‘Women no longer cry, women get paid’. The journalist concluded, “I know that, and they should also declare it to the Treasury Department”, as compiled by La Sexta and translated by DeepL.
Which tax fraud and treasury case was Rando continuously referring to? And why is Shakria involved in it? Let’s dive deeper.

All about Shakira and her $15.9 million tax fraud case
Last year, the Spanish authorities accused Gerard Pique’s ex-girlfriend of not paying taxes between 2012-14. In her defense, the Colombian icon has previously stated that she wasn’t residing in Spain at that time. Hence, she wasn’t due to pay any taxes. The Latin American singer is currently in a $15.9 million tax fraud case. The court proceedings of that case will reportedly take place in November.

Due to her busy schedule as a music artist, the court has given her permission to choose the trial date. However, she will need to present herself in court for the hearing. Some weeks ago, the Waka-Waka singer’s legal team unexpectedly released a statement surrounding a whole new tax fraud case for 2018. The team claimed that they hadn’t received any official notice regarding the same.
